Media
Within the past two decades, the media landscape has dramatically transformed. In the current political climate, constitutional issues are central to many of the social, cultural, and political topics being debated. Considering a journalist's impact on public understanding of such substantial topics and of the American constitutional system in general, it is a critical time to reach out to this audience, impressing upon them the importance of the U.S. Constitution beyond the 1st Amendment. The Center for the Constitution is working with the Brookings Institution, Washington and Lee University, and other partners on a variety of seminars for journalists, to increase their level of understanding of constitutional principles.
Previous program titles for conferences in partnership with the Brookings Institution have focused on "The Legal Architecture of Counterterrorism: Principles and Contemporary Policy," and "The Madisonian System in Modern America: Is it Broken, and Can We Fix It?"
