Dennis Borgerding's four eighth grade civics classes competed against each other on December 18, 2008 in the We the People in-school competition at Kemps Landing Magnet School in Virginia Beach.  Local teachers, school administrators, school board members, and politicians served as judges to select the first place team.  The winning class team represented Kemps Landing Magnet School at the 2009 Virginia We the People Middle School State Finals at Frank W. Cox High School in Virginia Beach on Saturday, January 10, 2009.  Last year, Kemps Landing students took the state title in the first annual 2008 We the People Middle School State Finals.
